Hi Doris (and anyone else who might be interested),

I am Steve Atkins, and I have lived in this area for a long time. I love calling Eastern NC home. Washington, Bath, Chocowinity, and Belhaven are all nice places to live. Downtown Washington is a wonderful place to experience with its specialty shops and restaurants. Across the river is Cypress Landing, one of the top-rated communities in the US for golfing and boating.

If someone is seriously considering a home in the area, I not only show them available homes, I give them a very informative tour of the area. Give me a all at 252_714_6555 and we'll get started.

Agree with Gail below that Bath NC is a great place to look for a home if you like the water and want a small town environment. Our company Low Tide Realty is located in historic downtown Bath on S. Main if you want to stop in for some information. Good Luck in your search.

We needed a rental in 2006, and after 4 days searching struck out. We were Blessed to have Tomp Litchfield of the Rich Agency steer us to Mac's Woods and were under contract in a day and a half. We are close to town, 20 + feet above sea level, mature homes and trees. I could not get my wife out of her new home with a nuclear explosion.

If you really want a taste of small town living, you should check out some properties in Bath. That is a beautiful small town just a few minutes outside of Washington. I am an agent and showed some clients a few properties in that area (I'm actually located on the Outer Banks) but they loved it there, and so did I. I think if I ever leave the OBX, that Bath could be the place for my husband and I. Good luck in your search!

I am not a realtor, rather I am a 15 year resident of Washington Park, a transplant from California. Perhaps I have a small town mentality but when I came to this area I just fell in love. Downtown Washington is along the river and has a promanade along it. There is also a kayak and bicycle rental right outside of Washington Park along with Back Water Jacks a restaurant. Fishing from the train bridge. Senior center down town. Lots of local color and culture. Go to: originalwashington.com this will tell you more. Right now housing prices are good. Anything along the water is high end, good neighborhoods, Pirates Cove, Somerset, Macs Woods, Small Wood, Historic District, Pamlico Village and Pamlico Plantation, Country Club, etc. Hope this was some help.

I have worked with the Marian Schaffer agency in the past and they have a wealth of information on retirement communities and vacation homes. I am a senoir real estate specialist and while I do not work that area it is best to work with someone that knows your needs and can help you find a "package deal" of everything you need in one place. Marian and Terry do a wonderful job of taking all the work out of the search for you. They do as I believe and help make home buying more of a pleasure then a task.
