There is a psychological factor referred to as cognitive dissonance that you should understand before asking questions of people about how they like things they have already chosen.
Basically, by asking people who have chosen to buy and live in a particular area how they feel about, the answer is going to be obvious. After all, they chose to live there. What may be of more interest to you is what people say are attractive features or attributes about a place, like low crime, community events, lots of varied shopping (not just Walmart), good schools and so on. Then you can compare the things that are important to you with the things that they found/find attractive about where they live.
Your Realtor® truly should be helping you understand the character of different places. (unless you're trying to verify what she said).
