should I be more concern about Solomans Creek than the Susquhana River re flooding in the Wilkes-Barre area?

Asked by Jo Ann Hladun, Wilkes-Barre, PA Wed Mar 6, 2013

I can deal with a puddle in the basement, but any water coming in the front door scares me & want no part of. I am awaiting a quote for flood insurance prices & am wondering if it's worth the stress & effort. Is flooding a common, re-occurring issue?

Solomon's Creek is an issue for a very small section of Wilkes-Barre. The Susquehanna river could potentially cause more damage, but is protected by a levee. Your insurance company can give you a better idea of flood insurance costs for homes affected by both bodies of water. The majority of Wilkes-Barre is outside the flood plain.
