The best advice a Realtor shoud give you,and only one is to talk to a lender to
help you with improving your credit score.Once you get prequalified you can start looking for a Realtor to help you find a home.
If you need help finding a lender please let me know.

With your current credit, you won't be able to qualify for a loan, even with first-time assistance. The real estate agent shouldn't have promised you a loan since that's determined by the lender. You should continue to rent until you've got your credit score above 700.
