Hello Rich,

You most definitely are on the right track by getting a lender first. I have a lender I recommend that specializes with VA loan programs and can help by recommending ways to improve your credit.

Oh man... that's an EASY ONE!!

Go here: http://www.DHIMortgage.com/Kasey-Hampton - with a 580 score she can get you a VA Texas Vet loan that has an interest rate in the 2s!!!!! Fixed. Very nice and easy to get.

You can thank me later :)

This is easy to fix, pay everything on time, have at least 3 open accounts, preferably different types, car loan, credit card and a bank loan would be a good combination. Keep the balance on the credit card below 30% of the limit, these simple tasks will increase the credit scores as long as you do not have collections or judgments that haven’t been addressed.

Good luck,

Rich,

I work with a VA lender who charges no lender fees or points to active duty military personnel, reservists and veterans who finance or refinance their home. When comparing rates, be sure to check if other lenders are charging lender fees or points, such as a 1% origination fee, loan processing surcharges, underwriting fees or other hidden costs.

Contact me if you'd like more information.

Hi Rich,
You are on exactly the right track by starting with the lending part of the home buying process.

I would recommend that you contact Jeff Cruz at Castle & Cooke Mortgage. They are a national mortgage lender but treat you as if they are a local business. They can do every type of loan, have low costs, and Jeff is very creative to find exactly the right product for your needs. He's great to work with - very responsive, respectful and professional.

Jeff's contact info is:

Good luck! If there's anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to call!
