Hi Sabina,
The train ride to Midtown Manhattan is approximately 35 minutes from Short Hills and 40 minutes from Chatham.

The hours for Pre-K in Short Hills is
Pre-School (at South Mountain School and Deerfield School)
Pre-K Integrated A.M. (3-yr. olds): 8:15 a.m.- 10:45 a.m.
Pre-K Integrated P.M. (4-yrs olds): 12:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.

Chatham has a limited Pre-K program and uses a lottery system to qualify.
Please let me know if you need any additional information, I am a market specialist in both towns.

Amy Harris

If you go to NJtransit.com you can get the fare info as well as commute time from each area.
http://www.schooldigger.com can tell you about the schools and try contacting the schools directly to get
your questions answered about their pre-k programs.

Sabina,
Welcome to Essex and Morris Counties.
For train information, I suggest you check out New Jersey Transit and the Essex/Morris Line, http://www.njtransit.com, to determine how long it will take you to get in and out of the City. The train ride to and from Short Hills/Millburn is shorter than that from Chatham, but not by much.
As far as pre-k programs go, there are many to chose from and times vary. For working families, you will find those that offer extended stay programs.
So you know, I am a long time resident of Chatham, 25 years, and work in Maplewood, the town next to Millburn/Short Hills.
Feel free to contact me with any other questions you have regarding these lovely towns.
Sincerely yours,
Jonathan
