protection period in real estate

Asked by Home Buyer, Atlanta, GA Wed Mar 17, 2010

I appreciate all the answers that were sent on my question. Just want to be clear - if I sign with another brokerage firm, will the protection period still apply? (in GA)

Typically, yes. The protection period wasn't designed to cause you to pay two commissions... it was designed to protect the agency from the seller "cancelling" their contract, and then selling directly to a buyer who'd seen the house while under the auspices of the initial selling agency.

But check the contract, and ask the new agent. They'll know.

Yes! Read the agreement. It is very clear.
