Kathleen, this is kind of tough to answer because I don't know much about hospitals versus local clinics - the area you referenced is pretty remote and the closest major hospital is probably downtown Spokane. That's where the regional trauma center is located.
Yes, Colville is going to have medical facilities as are some of the other communities in the area. However, Colville is the "biggest" and there's probably a population of only about 5000 people.
The other issue you will have is road conditions during the winter - I've been here three years and two of those three we had some pretty heavy snowfall. It was never to the point where roads were impassible but I'm in an urban area that gets plowed pretty quickly.
