Hi Jbeasty,

Dallas metroplex is a very big area so its very hard to provide you good informatino without knowing your expectation.

I worked with mostly out of town clients and they mostly stay in uptown or Lakewood area due to the location is closest to Downtown and all the entertainments area.

I have live in uptown for 3 years and I never had any safty issues and I now live in Lakewood now which I also love.

Please let me know if you need further help location a new place for you and your family. You can check out my website at http://www.findyourtexashome.com/leasing for homes in the area.

Only you can define what is "safe" for you and your family. The web is a wonderful research tool to find stats of not only crime, but school ratings and community involvement pages. As far as house expense, all things are relative, many from out of state find our property taxes (in Texas as a whole, not just Dallas proper) to be higher than expected, however we are a NO STATE income tax state (one of 5 in the country), so with that in mind, Texas is an inexpensive place to live. Land? I have no problem growing my annual salsa garden, so I think our land is terrific. Seriously, Land cost you mean? Location location location dictates.

Depends on what you call expensive and if you have kiddoes to think about. If you have children, go to the Texas Education Agency website and look at the AEIS reports for the schools and their performance and other data before making a decision about areas to live.

Dallas has many neighborhoods and suburbs. Get online and do some research then pick one local Realtor to help you.

Good luck
