When I was news editor at the San Antonio Light and the San Antonio Express-News, we had committees discuss designations for various areas of the city, using tradition and postal conventions.

If I remember correctly, we mapped Northwest San Antonio as being roughly bordered by SH 151 and FM 1957 on the south/west and West Avenue and N.W. Military on the north/east. The Light considered the area outside Loop 410 as the Far Northwest Side.

Realize that some people, including many Realtors, consider NW San Antonio as extending south to Marbach Road.

Note: The traditional (and postal designation) dividing east -west San Antonio is Roosevelt/St. Mary's St. and for north-south is Houston/Commerce.

More North West I would say. Good access to USAA, UTSA, Med Center, but not a bad location to get to Lackland either...
