Your information regarding 36 North 3rd street is incorrect.
It's being rebuilt beautifully from the ground up by the current owner, an architect.

This property (actually 42-44) was posted with an Order to Vacate on Sept. 18 and on Sept. 21 Hudson Code Enforcement evicted squatters and the property was sealed. Previous owner skipped out on the mortgage and the property defaulted to Citiwide division of Citibank in Fredericton, MD. Eighth Street needs tender loving care and narcotics enforcement...it's still the wild west here. I know because I live across the street from 42 Eighth Street. We have a neighborhood block watch going, but the behavior problems of many of the residents are jaw-dropping, not to mention illegal. It's a drive-in for narcotics on Friday and Saturday. We need new blood and new ideas and money.

Ask your grandmother's lawyer for a copy of the "Notice of Default" on that property. Its actually of public record. Generally its best to wait till the property has gone through the entire foreclosure process, as it will be for sale or offered by the bank through a realtor at a lower price .

The person loosing the house is most likely doing so because they owe so much on it; they bought it at a time when homes were selling in a higher market and are now its worth far less. Good luck to you.
