Lynbrook High, Middle College High, Leland High, Pioneer High, and Evergreen Valley High are all considered quite good but there are others that may also match your needs and their area might have other things important to you.

I and my team would be glad to help you.

To be effective we need to meet and find out more about what you are looking for. I and almost all real estate agents work with more than one buyer at a time. I alert my buyers who are the best match for homes as they come up for sale.

Imagine that you have a really good lead on a home. The first client you would tell is the one who is most likely to buy it. Trulia is great for getting general advice but general advice won't get you the best house at the best price.

Hi Wgruda
Almaden Valley has an excellent high school - Leland. Pioneer is also a good school. Both my children went there and excelled and I have only positive reviews. You do need to talk to a realtor to find out what price range you can afford as that will determine the area you eventually buy in. The inventory is very low right now but i will be happy to set up as search for you if you provide information. You can search my website at http://www.gloriaashdown.com.

Hi Wgruda,

You have received some informative advice below. Depending upon the area and school the home prices would vary. Best is to sit down with Realtor to assess which school/neighborhood works best for you. The market is very competitive at present, you have to be diligent in home search. You can contact any of us from this forum to pursue further.

Hi Wgruda and thanks for your post.

Typically, when rating schools in the area, we tend to rely more heavily on the API scores rather than the http://www.greatschools.com rating program of 1-10. That rating is based on input from students and parents, and is not necessarily wholly academically based. Now, the nice part is that the Great Schools site will give you all of the 8, 9 and 10 rated schools in a general area. You have only to look at their information to determine which schools will fit your needs for High School with diversity and neighborhood appeal.

In San Jose, Great Schools has the following 7 High Schools that rate 8 or above:

University Preparatory Academy Charter (8)
Pioneer High School (8)
Evergreen High School (8)
Leland High School (9)
KIPP San Jose Collegiate (9)
Middle College High (10)
Lynbrook High School (10)

Once you've pinpointed a few areas that you like, you might take a drive out to those areas to get a better feel for the community, types of homes and the neighborhoods, and, most importantly, the pricing in the area. Use http://www.crimereports.com to determine safety statistics in any area.

Finally, work with a great agent. The agent can help you find a home in a community that you like. If you're intent on doing some of the "footwork" yourself, you can also look at http://www.mlslistings.com to see all of the homes for sale on the local Multiple Listing Services in Santa Clara. Then give your favorite agent a call for help. Remember, a few of us even give sizeable rebates to clients when they buy a home.

Good luck!

Almaden is an excellent location for both safety and schools in my opinion.

There are many resources here that should be helpful

the best at that site specifically for doing what you wanted to do is

We've invested in a unique resource which has the boundaries for specific elementary schools, as well as middle and high schools. So if you want to have a property alert set to notify you when ever a home comes on the market with 3 or more bedrooms and in $x,xxx to $y,yyy price range in a specific middle school's attendance area... we can set that up for you.

By the way, we can do the same search but rather than a specific High School have it show you properties that come on the market within ANY High School attendance boundaries where the schools API test scores were over 850. So for example, when ever ANY 3bd, 2bth home under $600k comes on the market Santa Clara County (or other counties) where the high school's API score was over 850 it will send you the listing (MLS) information.

Very cool. Very helpful. And something few if any other Realtors can offer.

You asked for it, we found it and made the investment!

If you can't find the search that shows you the information you want/need drop me an email and let me know, I'll set up the search for you!

Thank you, Wgruda:

You have received some excellent answers. Mark Gissler's recommendation af Almaden Valley, is very good. I have several clients in The Almaden Valley and they love it.

Grace Morioka and Juliana Lee made some excellent recommendations for schools.

My personal preference is Lynbrook High School. I was in the first graduating class in 1968 from Lynbrook High School and I thought that Lynbrook High School was a great high school then and Lynbrook High School has continued to get even better over the years.

Lynbrook High School is in West San Jose in the 95129 Zip code, and a small part of The City of Saratoga in the 95070 Zip Code also goes to Lynbrook High School.

Monica Goyal made an excellent recommendation that you select the REALTOR to represent you as the buyer and then sit down with your REALTOR and talk about everything that you are looking for in a home.

Hi Wgruda,

Please provide us with some more information. Are you looking to buy or rent, if buying have you been pre qualified yet? If you have been pre qualified what is your range for purchase? What type of home/condo/townhouse are you looking for? What size, bedrooms, etc? This information will allow us to help you.
