Inground pools are quite a bit more expensive that above ground. I paid about $35k for mine about 10 years ago. But that's including all the associated costs involved ( concrete around the pool, lights around the pool, a small shed to house the pump, sand filter, and pool accessories, the wiring for everything, the building permits, and inspections, retractable pool cover, automatic pool cleaner, and other pool-related bits. I highly recommend *not* trying to contract out each part of the job, it's a headache, as certain people need to do their jobs at certain times during the construction, and alot of the time one company's ability to do their part of the job will be completely dependent upon when another company does their part of the job. If there's a single problem or hold up by one outfit the whole project is affected. I made that mistake, and if I had to do it again, I'd much rather pay the extra $1500 to have one company perform the entire job.

No way in hell you're getting a quality inground pool for $2000-$5000 though. Reaslistically, $15k-$20k will likely be about as low as you can expect.

Just a follow up.....I was suprised to see the higher quotes here. I havent paid more than $23,000 yet, and that included everything....pool, paver deck, pool cage, pool equipment, alarm system, etc. If you want to see what $23,000 gets you, I had a pool built for a property I bought and sold located at: 2508 SE 8th Place in Cape Coral. It is easy to see if you drive by, right near the intersection of Veterans and Country Club. The home is occupied, so please respect the home owner's privacy. Perhaps Craig has been giving me great pricing, so I would mention my name when you call, and ask for the same price that he gave me. His quality and professionalism really couldnt have been any better. I had my guardup the first time, so you can imagine I wouldnt have had him build 2 more pools if I was unhappy.

I didn't think it would cost so much to install a pool. Granted the only place I have lived with a pool already had it installed so that was not a cost for us. Though it would be nice to build a pool so I could have control over the design and shape.

It depends, on what size do you want, the area that you live and the fence that you should built around the pool, you should probably budget between $23 to $35.000 for an in ground pool.

It really does depend on the size. I've heard of people who have built their own pools. I'm not really sure how one would do that, but I'm sure there's advice out there somewhere. You should determine your budget and then see what sort of pool you can put in for that budget. That seems like a good place to start.
Flag Tue Oct 28, 2014
We just recently put a pool in our backyard and after the whole procedure was complete, the total cost was around 20k. We had an original budget of 15k but some other factors came into play such as re-doing our sprinkler system, and putting a patio around the pool. It will definitely be worth the cost next summer when we get to enjoy it!

Good Morning Everyone! =)

Pool companies range in prices depending on what style, size, flooring, and features you decide to pick. Typically for a decent pool with a screen cage, you are looking to spend around $27,000 - $30,000. If you want to add a waterfall or jacuzzi then the price starts to increase.

On average, my clients spend between $35,000 - $45,000.

Be sure to get at least 3 quotes. I like to refer Joe Mitchell at Pool Pro's 239-277-7783 He is really fantastic and is very active in the community.

Good Luck with the Pool Search!

You received lots of answers here about the price to install a pool. However, I didn't see anyone mention the fact that some families will reject the purchase of a property because a pool exists in the backyard; they are concerned with safety issues (especially with small children). I'm sure you have decided by now the right path, but I did want to include my cautionary note.

You're totally right. We live in SW Florida and did not want a pool for the upkeep factor and because we were planning to have children soon. Peace of mind was more important. I'm a born and raised Floridian so I get how nice they are but we know plenty of people with a pool and wanted to avoid the hassle of having one ourself.
Flag Sat Jun 17, 2017
I would concur for N of Mid FL but SW FL it's expected otherwise there are tons of Condo's - in this region it's expected to comfortably survive summers for year rounders not everyone has the $ to be a snowbird w/2 properties and dual costs/taxes.

Hi Sheila:

$30K is normal, and for an Olympic Size it can be as much as $85K.

If you go with exotic Cabana and Surroundings then $130K.

Good luck.

Pretty expensive. But, not as much as you might think. We prefabricate each Retractable Enclosure system and ship it knockdown to the installation site. So the on site assembly and installation time is reduced to about two to three weeks typically.

The least amount I have spent to put a pool in, was $23,000. That included a paver deck, pool cage, pump, etc. I suspect prices may have gone up a bit since then though. So use that figure as your bottom line, but it also depends on how much it takes to put a pool in your specific yard, retaining wall, the design and any additional features. So you can expect $25,000-$35,000 is that helps.

It would really just depend on the kind of pool you want, and who you have put it in for you. There is a lot of variation out there, and not just in the shape of the pool but the materials used and the water you put in. The cost will be dependent on all of these factors.

It depends on the size and type of pool you are planning to install. You may also be required to pull permits. I would advice you to get a quote from 2-3 contractors to get a competitive estimate.

It will depend on the size of pool you end up getting. It also matters what material you end up using for the deck and the floor of the pool. I would plan out a few different options for your pool and then talk to some contractors to see pricing options, since they'll all have different prices. If it's too expensive, you can always make it smaller or use a different material so that it works better for you!

It depends on if you do a custom pool or if you just pick a generic pool. It might depend on how even your backyard is as well. I would get in contact with a contractor and have them give you an estimate. That's the easiest way to know.

A nice size pool can start at around $25,000. But if you want all the bells and whistles the price can rise pretty quickly. The sky is the limit for add ons and additional costs.

I have had 3 pools built over the last 1.5 years. They have cost me around $23,000 each time, and that included everything needed, and a pavered deck. Not sure if this helps you much, but I can also say that I have lived in Cape Coral all of my life, and after talking to many pool companies, and getting several estimates, I have been going with Craig's Pacific Pools. He has finished each pool right on schedule, no surprises, no complaints. He's been in business a long time too. Each pool I had built did not have a hot tub, waterfall, etc.

Have someone come out and give you a quote though because if the backyard needs a retaining wall or more fill, that could increase your costs.

To quote a pool package price a contractor needs to take in consideration few factors:

1. Pool area.
2. Deck area.
3. Pool cage.
4. Any extra toys like water falls, lighting, heather, etc.

Base pool price is all over board and as a rule considere $30,000 for a basic pool.

I'd get at least three estimates with and without a spa. I've seen most pools go in at 30-35K in recent months. Any less and you'll get something too small for a lounge chair on the deck and two floaters in the pool! And, be sure it's positioned for the rear exposure you have...especially if you have a Northern exposure...too close to the house means no sun on the pool or the deck in the winter months. Be careful of planters and decide if you want to walk aronnd your pool or not and the heating system you require....all price points to consider.

You can pay as little as in the low 20's up to the 50's and higher depending on what you want. Waterfalls, spas, extended pool deck area and other add ons of course increase the price.
