This information should be public record. I would start with the local county recorders office and see where you go from there. Information that old may not be readily available but you might be able to order the records back from archive. Good luck!

In Cook County, using the assessor's website should be your best bet. When you get to other counties , you can call your local assessor and ask them where you might find the info, and may be able to help you find it. Some counties and cities also have historical societies and departments that have old phone records and address records that may help you find owners going back to the 1800's. It will vary by area.

Good Luck

Go to or and search by property address. If that doesn't work (sometimes it doesn't) search by property address range, i.e. 3400 - 3500 W Fullerton.

Good luck!

County records should show the owners of a property going all the way back to when it was farmland.

You can try the website for the Cook County Recorder of Deeds ( and search by Property Identification Number (PIN). If you don't know the PIN number, you can get that from the Cook County Assessors website ( by searching the address. Good luck.

Go to the county and look through there. Its all public record. It may take a lot of digging though.
