As the saying goes, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Click on the following links for statistics in different neighborhoods. Also, when considering certain areas you can visit local police precincts for information as well, talk to neighbors for opinions, ride around during the day and night and come to your own conclusion as to what's right for you and your family. Hope this helps you somewhat......

It all depends what is in your understanding --good neighborhood, are you looking for good schools, transportation, shopping or so forth.. According to your criterias go on line and google your preferences, we as Realtors can't define this for you. It is a very good idea to hire a Realtor, when he knows what your preferences are it will be much easier to identify a right area for you.

Staten Island contains an abundance of great neighborhoods. It is of course impossible to come up with a completely objective answer to that question. Therefore real estate agents do not Steer. The illegal act of Steering is the channeling of home seekers to particular areas on the basis of race, religion, country of origin, or other protected class. You should be made aware of all available properties within in your price range and area of interest. Talk to your potential neighbors. You'll be living next to these people, perhaps for years. Having great neighbors can make or break a neighborhood, so find out how they like living there and what they're like. Picture yourself in the neighborhood. Go through your daily routine to make sure you'll still have good quality of life. For instance, if you run every morning, are the roads safe enough for your morning jog? If you bike to work, are there bike lanes for you to use? If you love grabbing a cup of coffee, is there a neighborhood coffee shop for you to enjoy? Don't forget to listen. Can you hear noise from the highway or airport? Is there a club or bar nearby that might get annoying at 2 a.m.? These are all important things to consider.

The question is subjective, it really comes to personal preferences....
