Usually the underwriter will require anything over $1,000 to be paid at or prior to settlement. It also depends on the type of collection. Medical collections are sometimes ignored. It really depends on the situation.The collection can be negotiated down if it is required to be paid.
I would not suggest paying them off monthly but then again I don't have enough information to make an accurate determination.
