Depending on the area there were actually more houses for sale for several years.
Many in the form of short sales or bank owned properties.
The new construction was reduced to a very low level.

The present situation is that in many areas there are less good quality resale homes for sale ,but there is again new construction .

The other issue you mention is timing .There is a typical pattern of real estate activity that changes over the year.

My advice is to check the internet often and get ready to buy the one you like and can afford.
Be quick ,the good ones will be going fast once we are in the spring and we are still in this very low interest time.
it will be helpful to get a working ship with a real estate agent that can help you with the search and get you ready to make a sound purchase decision .

We want you to buy the right house and not just any house.

Not quite sure what it is you are asking Ju - could you please clarify?

As you have pointed out, many markets in the country have reported a decline in sales in May - coinciding with, and attributed to, the tax credit coming to an end .
