No, but you should always ask the seller if they have a recent one. They will often provide you with a copy. Your title company will determine if you can use it for title insurance purposes (usually based on the age of the survey).

Hello, yes homes in Brooklyn, N.Y do come with a survey and you should definitely have a surveyor come out, especially if the home you're buying is old and the survey the seller has is old as well. A survey will be ordered shortly before the closing to make sure the home is positioned where it should be and there's no conflict with other properties or vice versa.

Dear Mark:

Seller's are not required to provide you with a survey per say. Often times the seller may have a survey they can give you but it may be very old, or they may not even have one. If the seller provides you with a survey that is say 3 years old or more, how do you know if something on the property, or neighboring property has changed since then? It behooves any buyer to pay for and get their own survey regardless to make sure there are no encumbrances on the property. If there is some form of encumbrance, you would want that addressed in some fashion before you close the deal. Hence you do a survey before you close.

If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

If you are a buyer having a new survey is always a good idea...
