I am UK citizen trying to purchase in Florida and having a difficult time. I have a visa (but not a green card so am classed as foregin national). My partner and I want to put 20% down, both have excellent credit and can show 2 years of tax returns. He is US citizen. ANy ideas on where we can go so we are both on the deed, everywhere we apply they will only consider him and not me and based on just his income, we would probably be denied a loan.

Yes, you can buy a home if you have the cash or you can qualify for a loan. As a non resident, you will need a federal tax ID which is very easy to obtain at the closest federal building to you. Every city has one. You mention a zip code that is Medina, Ohio and then you mention Livonia, which is in Michigan. I am very close to and service Medina and can help you find the perfect home and loan. If it is Livonia, Michigan, I know some great Realtors there. If you like, you may email me or visit my website. Good luck to you.

Good morning-
Absolutely-In this great country getting a peice of the American Dream is something that you do not need to be an American citizen.
I would be happy to assist you in finding a home in the Medina area.
If you haven't spoken with a lender in thestate of Ohio, I could arrange to have a qualified lender contact you & review various options that may be available to you.

The answer is, you MAY be able to buy a home. You could have problems qualifying for a loan. The best thing to do is sit down with an experienced lender and discuss how much you can afford to put down for a down payment. They will check your credit score and make sure you can qualify for a program they have. If you can't qualify for a loan, you can still buy if you use all cash. Do your research and find a good Realtor who can help you locate the type of property you'd like to buy.
