buying condo - lawyer question

Asked by Aleena, Buffalo, NY Thu Nov 27, 2008

I am purchasing a 2 bedrm condo in NYC. I looked online adn contacted broker to see the place, so basically the broker represents the seller, not my personal broker. He suggested me a lawyer to do closing, should I go with his lawyer or search my own one? I don't know any lawyer personally. Also, if I sign the contract next week, when will the closing be done approx? I have arranged for financing already. THanks.

Ali,

You generated this question because you suspect you should use a different lawyer......and we would agree. Doing so will keep it cleaner and remove any doubt later that your interests were not represented best.

There are plenty of attorneys out there, it's a matter of making the effort to identify the right one.

Good luck,
