Hi Maureen,

The average cost of housing in Nassau and Suffolk really depends on what you are looking for. Overall on Long Island, the home prices vary greatly. This is true even when you break it down into School Districts, Towns and even neighborhoods. If you just want the median home sale price, you would find that it falls between $400 - $500K. However, this statistic is really just based on a broad average and isn't very helpful for someone looking for a home. I noticed on your profile that you're just looking in Commack. Would it be helpful to you to have a specific pricing breakdown for Commack and Commack Schools? This would give you a lot more accurate information than just looking at Long Island as a whole. By the way, I grew up in Commack and live one town over in Hauppauge right now, so I am very familiar with every area that may be of interest to you.
