3 bed, 2 bath house with good Elementary school - 600 K budget

Asked by Rsm, Santa Clara, CA Tue Mar 25, 2008

Hi,

First of all, I want to thank every one here for wonderful questions and answers. It's really helping me understand better the housing market in the Bay Area.

I have two questions -

1. I am looking for a 3 bed, 2 bath house in a Quiet neighborhood with good Elementary school within 5 miles of Lawrence/Homestead intersection in Santa Clara. My budget is around 600K. Is this realistic? Where should I look?

2. I remember seeing a web site a while ago where you enter a house address and you see people's comments on the house - quality, pricing, neighborhood etc. I don't remember what that site is. Do you guys know of any site like this?

Thanks,
rsm

The areas you have mentioned seem to fall under Cupertino School district in my opinion. If my assumption is correct, I doubt you will be able to find an independent house. However, you may be able to find townhomes.

Ram,

Yes, I think that is a good price range to start looking. There are different styles, lots, and ages of homes throughout the area you are interested in. It is about your desires in a home that will help narrow it down. Drive through a couple of the areas and see if there are particular streets your like. That tends to be the best way. I am happy to help you narrow it down. Email me if you would like to bounce around ideas. No obligation.

Ram,

There are condos and town homes in that price range for the area you are looking in. There will be more available on the South side of Lawrence. But the West side of Lawrence will be tough.

Take a look at 2128 Monterey Ave -95051 and 2629 Meadowbrook. These are the examples in your price range.

There have been many discussions about whether or not is best to buy a home in the right neighborhood based on school because more and more the "good" schools (API scores) are becoming over crowded and new entrants are sometimes are moved to the next, less crowded school.

There was a great discussion here on Trulia about the school topic:

Hope this helps.
