The city of Murphy does not have a school district. Residents in Murphy will either attend Plano ISD or Wylie ISD based on their home locations.

The Plano ISD is a large (Class 5A) school district and provides many opportunities for their students. The residents in Murphy who attend PISD schools will eventually feed into Plano East Senior High School where the graduating class is approximately 1200-1400 kids each year. There are a total of 3 Senior High Schools in Plano ISD. The schools run like this:
Elementary = K - 5th
Middle School = 6th - 8th
High School = 9th - 10th
Senior High School = 11th - 12th

The Wylie ISD is slightly smaller (Class 4A) school district and provided more of a "community" or "small town" feeling. There are only 2 High Schools in the Wylie ISD, and the newer high school has only been open 5 years or so. The schools run like this:
Elementary = PreK - 4th
Intermediate School = 5th - 6th
Junior High School = 7th - 8th
High School = 9th - 12th

BOTH school districts are highly desirable and highly rated by the Texas Education Agency. This is one of the reasons that Murphy is in such high-demand. The schools, parks, and lifestyle opporunities for residents in Murphy is second to none. You have the best of both worlds when you live in Murphy.

I live in Plano and my office is located in Wylie. My areas of expertise are Plano, Murphy, and Wylie. I would love to assist you as you prepare to buy a home in the area. Please feel free to contact me directly via phone/text/email. I am happy to answer all of your questions.

I think most people would consider Plano ISD better than Wylie ISD, but it all depends on your student and what you think is important in a school. For example you might think it important for your kids to learn lets say....Mandarin.....Plano might offer that and Wylie might not. Or you might think it important they're in the symphony, but Wylie has symphony and Plano has marching band.

If your kids are at the top of the class and you really want them to be pushed, you might choose one school system....but if they are more middle of the road or towards the bottom of the class, they might do better with less pressure in a different system.

Plano ISD is the school district for Murphy. Overall the best school district between Plano and Wylie is Plano ISD. Majority of all the schools in Plano, including high schools, are Exemplary and Recognized. Feel free to email teneshalusk@judgefite.com or call 972-904-0673

Wylie ISD and Plano ISD both feed into the city of Murphy. It depends on which neighborhood that you live in as to which school district you pay your taxes to and your children attend. If you would like more information about the neighborhoods feel free to ask.
