levels, how feasible it is to get / ask free upgrades and actually get them from the builder? strategies?

You are watching too much TV...notably the news.

The real estate market is a market that is localiized. There are several areas all over the country booming...and not dependent on people who should never been allowed to buy a house for a gazzilion dollars in the first place.

As such, ask for what you want...relative to YOUR market..as a matter of fact, the hungrier the developer, the more concessions you will probably get...which is a decision not tied in to the national media.

Agreed...
Carlos, if you want free upgrades, simply go to the areas that are hurting the most. Arizona, California, Nevada... I'm sure they'd be happy to give you some free granite in exchange for getting a home off their books...
Nationwide???? Not so much....
