Will property in Columbia Heights continue to appreciate considerably?

Asked by Christy Walsh, 20009 Mon Jul 30, 2007

. . . or has the market reached its peak for big gains for property owners in that neighborhood?

The short answer to your question is yes. However there are a lot of factors that go into this. There is so much development happening in CH and still tons left to go. Prices keep going up and up with every condo conversion and renovation that get put as active! I know about 5-10 that are under construction as we speak! Also as Georgia ave gets more and more developed it will also help keep CH prices going up and up.

The urban revitalization of Columbia Heights began in 1999 when the city announced a revitalization initiative for the neighborhood around the construction of the Columbia Heights Metro Station ( 14th and Irving St ). The opening of the Metro Station has made the area more accessible to the rest of the city and acted as a catalyst for the return of economic development to the community, attracting residents to the neighborhood. Now a lot of stores are in the area. The Grand opening of THE Target ( March 9th ) which is the anchor of the massive DC USA retail development above 14th & Irving Streets NW that will also include Best Buy,Staples,Marshalls,Bed Bath & Beyond,Washington Sports and several restaurants. So this definitely will continue to make a once struggling neighborhood more affluent and probably will make value of properties to continue to rise in that area.
