Bert Cyr, Home Buyer in Litchfield Park, AZ

Which neighborhoods allow you to park your motor home in your yard?

Asked by Bert Cyr, Litchfield Park, AZ Sat Sep 18, 2010

We intend to purchase a single family residence on the west side of Phoenix this fall. Friends purchased in Litchfield Park because they could park their motor home in their yard. This would be a winter residence for us and being able to park (not stay in) our rv in our yard is a must. Have looked at the MLS and although the listing says rv parking the HOA restrictions only allow an rv if you can't see it.

I am having a question similar to this one. My family and I just bought a brand new motor home, but we don't know where we are going to put it. Do all neighborhoods have regulations on where you can park them? I'm very interested in what everyone has to say! http://horizonmotorhomes.com.au/

Dear Bert:

As you have seen, each HOA has different rules. Some HOA communities actually cater to winter visitors with RVs. Others, want them parked off the property or in designated areas. Your Realtor can help you find a home with on site RV parking.

For example Robson's Pebblecreek community allows on the property storage in designated areas.

The Realtors have more information on the MLS than a consumer will be able to find on the MLS or Trulia.

Nearly any home in an HOA is going to have restrictions regarding RVs where they need to be below fence height and they can't be parked in the street or in a driveway for more than 24 hours. Search for homes without an HOA and you'll find what you're looking for. If the search portal you're using doesn't give that option, let me know and we can help.

also need to check city codes though. Phoenix themselves don't allow you to park your rv in front. But most cops have better things to do than to care.

Your best bet would be to target subdivisions that don't have an HOA governing the rules of RV parking.

Please don't rely solely on the MLS listing data as to if RV parking is allowed. I've seen it too many times where an agent mistakenly listed the RV parking without ever verifying this fact. Working with a buyer's agent, they can find out for you which subdivisions allow RV parking and their guidelines for RV parking.

Feel free to contact any local agent on Trulia for this info.

Best of luck!
