Home Buying in Midtown>Question Details

Pj, Home Buyer in Midtown, Houston, TX

Where on the internet can I find the listing price history on a residential real estate.?

Asked by Pj, Midtown, Houston, TX Fri Sep 4, 2009

I am looking at a residential property that I know has had a reduction in the list price. I would like to see what the history of list price reductions has been, and what the original list price was.

Hello There,

We are a no disclosure State. In Texas property sales prices usually are not publically disclosed like another states.

Best advise is got to http://www.har.com and get help from a Trulia Pro agent. Check our directory to find one on your specific target area.

I hope this helps!

If you are in the Houston area, you should contact a Realtor. They can look on the MLS for you and look up the history of any home for you. If you would like to contact me, my email is dstrudler@me.com.

This type of detailed, historical information is available only to those Houston Realtors® who are active members of Houston Association of Realtors MLS and are paying their HAR MLS dues. You can check with any of them specifically, or you can call me. Once again we are paying for the access to this type of information. I don't think that any average home buyer (or home seller) is aware about the cost involved in our access to this or any other information necessary in assisting Houston area home sellers or Houston area home buyers with correct pricing of their houses for sale or making the right offer.

Just look at Zillow. They have a price section showing price changes and sometimes the sales price.

Go to HAR.com, check out neighborhoods and that will give you data on most areas. Good luck!

I don't think there is a place to find that information, at least I am not aware of a place. Are you working with an Realtor? If not you should give one a call. Can you tell me why you need that information, just curious?

You can contact a local Trulia agent as low as the property has been listed in MLS is only accurate source of information. If not listed in MLS good luck other postngs may not be correct.

you won't be able to see what the original list price was, history, how long it has been on the Market and if it was under contract at some point. These are facts that are only available to Real Estate Professionals.
If you need detailed information on any property, please let me know what the address or MLS is, and I'll be glad to assist you.

Hi PJ,

The Houston Association of Realtors has a feature to research neighborhood price trends and homes sales prices. You can also find it at http://www.har.com/HomeValue/. Alternately, a realtor who is a member of the Houston Association of Realtors and Houston MLS can lookup a specific address in the MLS and view the history of the home, including asking/selling prices.

Please bear in mind that the State of Texas is a non-disclosure State, where a homes sale price is not required to be of public record. However, when a home is listed through the Houston MLS their required paperwork has language in it that allows the Houston Association of Realtors to display this information within their database.

Hope this helps!

Your best course of action is to contact a local real estate professional. They will be able to access this information from their local multiple listing service.

Good luck

A REALTOR who is a member of the local MLS (multiple listing service) can provide you with the information you are requesting. Anyone else does not have access to the information. REALTORS can obtain it from archived information in the MLS system that we use. I can help you with your needs. Feel free to contact me at 713-661-0884 or via email at meg@finehomeshouston.com. I'd greatly appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

The most reliable information is available through a local Realtor in your area.

They will be able to go on the Multiple Listing Service and research the history of the property listing, including price reductions and original list price.

Best of Luck!
