I think craigslist is a good place to start....you can find a lot of listings to sift through that should give you an idea of current asking prices.

Hi Chris,

Trulia shows four apartments for sale in Pittsburgh at the link below. You can also check Recently sold homes under Listing Type to see homes sold in Pittsburg within the last nine months. I hope this helps you.

If you truly mean you don't want to go to a Realtor, you will NOT want to go to Realtor.com, many local MLS realestate company or individual agent's sites, because most of those are Realtor owned sites that have lots of good information provided to the public for free. If what you mean is that you don't want to risk anyone calling or emailing back to you, and maybe 'bugging' you , your choices are a little more limited.
Incidentally, do you know that not all real estate agents are REALTORS? A Realtor is a realestate sales agent who has chosen to join the Natoinal Association of Realtors, a trade organization, and be held accountable to the Realtor code of ethics, among other things.
I am a real estate sales person who has chosen to stand by the higher standard that is rquired of carrying the name REALTOR and these are some of the places that I look- but be prepared. It will take some time and energy.
You might check these out:
-the courthouse in the county where you are looking, and reasearch the deeds or other county records.(if it is real estate that has been 'sold' it should be in the public record.
-ask at the boro or town office where to find those records
-call the appartment complexes that you see in the area and ask if they have sold any apts recently, or have any for sale.
-go ckeck the (online or hardcopy) local newspapers classifieds and follow up with any that seem to have been sold.

Hope that helps

In this area, there aren't usually apartments for sale, unless you are talking about investing in a multi-unit building. If you are looking for a primary residence, you can find rentals in the newspaper or at http://www.postgazette.com or http://www.rent.com ... If you are looking for a condo to buy, try http://www.realtor.com or http://www.homes.com
