What will the bank want to see from us? our credit historys? How much both of us make?

Asked by John Habern, Argyle, TX Tue Jul 24, 2012

My soon to be wife and I will be purchasing our first home in the next few months. We are trying to figure out if we will qualify and for what we will qualify for! Since we are not married yet will they look at both of our credit history's/yearly income or just one of us?

If you both plan on being on the mortgage, they will look at both of your credit reports, bank statements, income statements, tax returns. If just one of you plans on being on the mortgage, it can get tricky if you have joint acounts, want to use both incomes, etc.. Contact a local loan officer, they will be able to assist you with your specific situation.

They will look at each of you, your first step should be to nmeet with a local and trusted loan officer. they can prequailify you at no cost and get you started. You should get together your last 2 years tax returns, last 2 pay stubs, 3 mo banks statements and a list of what you owe, to who and what you make for income. good luck
