What's the scoop on paying a sign up fee for some of the listings? Is it a rip off of is it worth it?

What's the scoop on paying a sign up fee for some of the listings? Is it a rip off of is it worth it? I'm seeing that it's not free to look at the Realty Trac listings. Are these prices I'm seeing real? Is there a place on the web that I can see foreclosure details for free?

Unless you are an investor looking to get pre-foreclosure information, don't bother to pay for the realty trac website. They are misleading and that is not what an "asking price" for the property is. Your best bet is to look in an MLS listing website and you can check out realtor.com or an individual agents website for more information in the area you are looking for a home. Foreclosed homes are available in the MLS as well. Many people use "foreclosures" to lead you in to the website. These can many times be good deals, but there are hidden pitfalls as well. Sometimes they are not necessarily the best "deals" it just depends on your individual needs.

you do not have to pay for listings or to see prices, so avoid those sites. the prices listed are not always the asking porices nor are all the houses listed currently on the market. your best bet is to have a good buyer broker who can update you daily with what comes on teh market, this way you have someone looking out for you and it will not cost you anything. goo dluck with your search Kelli
