What's the easiest & fastest way to know if someone has bid on a property a potential buyer is watching?

Asked by Emily Kulesza, Long Beach, CA Thu Jan 24, 2008

If a potential buyer isn't ready to put a bid on a home, but is interested in a specific home and is waiting to watch the market and see what happens, how do you keep track of whether or not someone else has put a bid on that particular home?

A good question here. Your agent can make contact with the listing agent and ask them to keep you informed on the activity of the property and let them know when an offer comes in. There is always the possibility then you may be competing against another offer if you wait to long. It is difficult sometimes in that strategy. Good luck.

You can call the listing agent and ask them to call you whenever they get in an offer. This would put you in a bidding war, which isn't the best thing. It's worth a shot if you truly aren't ready to put in an offer. Once an offer has been accepted, you can only put in a back-up offer.

You can always ask (or have your realtor) contact the listing agent and find out BUT if you see property you are interested in purchasing and you are a serious buyer- you should make an offer. Properties come and go within the hour. Time is of the essence in this process. Good luck
