What's a nice place to live around Lackland AFB?

Asked by elizfloyd93, San Antonio, TX Thu Jun 13, 2013

My husband and I both serve in the Air Force, and we're about to be stationed in San Antonio. We're interested in buying a house in San Antonio, but the only big problem is that I'm currently out in California. It's really hard to explore the city and find what part of town you'd like to live in from a different state...Google maps can't tell you everything. So I was just curious if there were any opinions for a newly married couple, going to be working around Lackland Air Force base, not looking for much of a commute, but also looking for a decently nice, safe place to live. And also, of course, not too far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Alamo Ranch is especially nice. Within the area there are several subdivisions with varying price ranges, amenities, etc. Westcreek is another good area.

Hey There Eliz-

I am from California myself and I can understand your perspective considering the lifestyle we are accustomed to in Cali.

I have been here 7 years myself and I do love it. There are a few areas close to Lackland that you would enjoy. The commute would not be what you are used to on the West Coast so you will be pleasantly surprised.

Was it just you and your husband, or did you have children so that a school district is an important issue in the near future? I can easily compare areas here to what you are familiar with back in California.

Please feel free to contact me. I have helped many people relocate over long distance. Check my recommendations to see for yourself what others have experienced first hand.

I look forward to working with you.

Above all, thank you for serving our country

I grew up near Lackland AFB. Most of the homes and neighborhoods within a 15 minute drive are older and leave a lot to be desired as they were built between the 50's and 70's. . However, a 15-20 minute drive will bring you to a part of the city that has seen lots of growth and new construction recently. I'm not a real estate agent, I'm a lender, but I do know the area.

If you need help with your home loan, please contact me. I have 14 years experience in helping families finance their next home. I am familiar with all loan programs and property scenarios. I’ll make sure you have all of the information you need to make an informed decision. Customer service and “on time closing is top priority. Hope to hear from you soon.

First of all THANK YOU both for serving our country!

I grew up in San Antonio, my Dad was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base. I know San Antonio and the Lackland area well. I have several suggestions that will be very helpful to you both.

I would also be happy to email you a list of homes that match your criteria. You, of course, pay absolutely nothing for my help.

Send me an email dianat@thehornco.com, or feel free to call me at 210-409-0340, anytime.

There is not a really nice place immediately surrounding Lackland, to be honest. When you venture further north, about 15 or 20 minutes, for example, you will find better neighborhoods. It all depends on the price range of course. E-mail me the criteria important to you or better, call me, so you can describe them to me.
