What programs and groups for young parents does Petaluma have?

Asked by Janice, Petaluma, CA Wed Feb 12, 2014

My husband and I have a beautiful 10 month old baby and are going to relocate to in or around Petaluma shortly for my job. Would love any feedback on groups for babies or young parents.

Hi there Janice! My son/business partner Jeremy and his wife Elisa have a 4 year old and a two year old, and have done extensive research into groups for young parents and infants up to 2 or 3 years old.

Below is not a complete list by any means, but I am happy to share this valuable information with you and your husband (and your 10 month old too, of course!) of some of the best groups and classes that Petaluma has to offer. If I can be of any more assistance to you, feel free to email (peg@pegking.com) or call 707.769.4328.

Hi Janice,
As you can see from the great info Peg provided, Petaluma has so much to offer for families with young children and it is an outstanding place to raise a family. As a transplant from San Francisco ten years ago, the major piece that has really helped this town feel like home to me was joining the Petaluma Mothers' Club http://www.petalumamothersclub.org.

When my husband and I moved here, I knew very little about the town and my nearest friends were in Santa Rosa and San Francisco. Shortly after having our daughter in 2008, I joined the club. Going to my very first playgroup felt a little bit like psyching myself up for the first day at a new school but I'm so glad I took that step.

That first day, I met some really amazing women with babies very close in age to my daughter. And almost every week since then, until our kids started Kindergarten last Summer, our playgroup met at peoples houses, parks, playgrounds and coffee shops around town. My closest girlfriends in town came from that group. Our husbands are now very close friends and my daughter has friends she hangs out with regularly whom she has known since she was 6 months old. It's pretty amazing how this group has impacted our lives.

The really wonderful thing is that now, I get to do this all over again with my son, who is 9 months old. I now am getting to know another great group of moms and their kids in his Babies of 2013 playgroup. We meet weekly but also have special family weekend activities to get the working moms and dads involved. It's a lot of fun. If you'd like more specifics, feel free to give me a call. I'd love to chat and hope to see you at one of our get togethers.

Beyond just the playgroups, the club offers many resources, community discounts and support for moms from pregnancy through the child's age of 5. I recommend joining before you get here. I can't say enough wonderful things about this club. It has greatly enhanced my Petaluma experience in so many ways.

You're going to love this town!

Cities offer buying incentives for certain groups and families. If you haven't looked into that you should. It can save you some money on taxes. Just email me if you have any other questions or concerns.
