It really depends on the location that your are interested in. Most states, cities and townships have separate programs that can benefit the first time home buyer. Some local banks may be offering special first time home buyer programs too. They will not all have the same qualification requirements, however all will look at your ability to pay (employment and Income), willingness to pay (credit) and the collateral (property) to determine your qualifications. The only way to know for sure is to contact the participating lenders and the agencies involved. It is not a short and/or quick process, but you are already on the right road by asking the question. Start by searching all of the above to get their requirements to see where you stand. If you are not quite there yet there are agencies to help you get there. Good start and good luck!

Hi Lashonda
It depends on how not great your scores are. It also is not just about your scores. It will also depend on job history and income and any current debt that you may have. It would be best for you to contact a local lender and have them point you in the right direction and show you how to bring up your scores. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you.
