Go to the local police or sherrif department web site to see if they have a link with crime statistics. Most counties have them available for the public.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Dear A. Frame,

Relatively speaking, Park Slope is a very safe neighborhood with a low crime rate statistically speaking. You can visit the local police precinct to get more information and speak to local business owners. Also check out the area you are thinking about late at night and see if you feel comfortable. Go with your gut.

Sincerely,
