Jimligia,

The best working neighborhoods are probably a gated community, but also the older neighborhoods of McGregor, the Riverside area or the East side of McGregor such as Whiskey Creek and Tanglewood for example offer biking path's, you see people roller balding, kids playing in street, neighbors walking there dogs and stop for a little smalltalk with the neighbor.

We love Gateway! Miles of sidewalks, beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife along the way. Many different subdivisions, some gated, some not. Golf course is there if you want to join either socially or golf and tennis.

Hey Jim,

Perhaps I should been more clearer regarding the Preserve mention below, you need not drive to them. If you look at Paseo and Pelican Preserve, in the link provided below, you may find just what you are looking for! ( click twice on the pictures to see all)

I am not sure if it is the best, and what you are looking for, but my favorite is McGregor Blvd.. the River Walk District, is interesting and historical, and going to be better in future years with all the plans in the works, Coconut Point Shopping Center is nice if stores are your interest, and is a city within a city located in Estero, and there a lot of preserve you can visit and spend time with nature..

Hope this helps.

Terry's idea of the app is great. Like Matias says, there are a number of areas that are very condusive to walking. I see people walking on the sidewalks along Summerlin, walking the bridges across the river (gives a up and downhill experience) along 6 mile Cypress. Then I would say most of the gated communities would be good too. Give me a call at 239-560-4159 and let's see what would be best for you and your family.
