School system in Lee County is more confusing than anywhere else in America, kind of a big bummer about our community. The sites others have suggested are great resources to look at. In addition here is link to list of Fort Myers Single Family Homes for sale http://www.house-guy.com/Single_Family_Homes

I personally do not know the school system but I do know of a rental that will be available. My parents own a 2 bedroom house on Estero Island that will be for rent soon. He is down there now fixing it up for the next tenant and will be down there until next Friday. If you don't mind the bridge let me know and I will give you his contact info. Good luck!

There are some decent public schools in the area, but you should definitely check the zones when purchasing, because there are few different zones within Lee County and even though School Choice allows you to choose a school, you must stay within the zones.

I have an 8 year old boy and a 6 year old daughter, and I did move my 8 year old to Canterbury (Private) this year because I was not happy with the choices offered in my zone.

If private schools are out of reach, I would suggest for you to take a look at the following site: http://www.greatschools.org/florida/fort-myers/Lee-County-Pu…

There are reviews and ratings, very helpful to see what other parents have to say...

As far as elementary schools, I've done extensive research and believe the only one worth trying to get into is Allen Park Elementary :

All the rest are not bad, but not great either.

If you like to chat more, drop me a line in my e-mail and I promise I won't sell you a house, since I don't sell homes I'll just talk to you regarding schools ;)

Hi Kristian,
We are also looking to move down to Fort Myers and we have an 8 month old son. Schools are important in our decision. I have read a little about Allen Elementary, but am unfamiliar with the school zoning set up . We are considering Bridgetown at Plantation. Would that be included in Allen Elementary's school zone? Also, do you know anything about Bridgetown? I want to know about the demographic since as a young couple with children, making friends our age is important to us. I can't seem to find information whether it is an older community, like at The Plantation. Thanks!

School choice in Lee County.....which I cannot stand but it does allow you some flexibility of where you live. I suggest you look in South Lee county in the Estero and Bonita Springs area. Fantastic area.....no denying that by anyone.

As others have told you we have school choice here so you have options on where you would like your child to go to school even if it is not the school closest to your home.

I have lived in Lee County for over 24 years and both of my now adult children went thru elementary, middle and high school here and fortunately we always got our first choice when we signed them up for school.

If you would like for information on how the process works or have other questions about the area please feel free to contact me. I know the area extremely well and would be more than happy to assist you.

The school your 7 year old will attend is an important criteria for your home selection process for sure. There are many fine choices here in SWFL. The School Choice process allows you to request certain schools within your zone in order of your preference prior to assignment. But other factors will play a role in your decision as well...budget, proximity to work, size, gated? water access?...If we can put together a profile for you based on these and other criteria we can better serve you. Of course we all have our preferences based on our experiences. My kids grrew up in the FT. Myers school system while living in Tanglewood. We loved it ! Check out Tanglewood and Whiskey Creek...deed restricted communities off of palm-lined McGregor Blvd.
I would be pleased to help you locate a property that fits your family if you are still looking for a Realtor.

Lee county has several options for great schools.

Here is a news article that shows a comparison of public schools in the state of Florida (and also national comparison): http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/florida/di…

For more detailed school assignment information also look here: http://studentassignment.leeschools.net/

If you would like information on housing available in the different neighborhoods please let me know.

Lee County has something called school choice, so your child doesn't have to go to the school closest to you. Check out the website at http://www.lee.k12.fl.us. This is their official site. Has school locations, ratings, etc..
If you need a great Realtor who works diligently to help you achieve your real estate goals, I would be happy to be the one you choose. You can search for homes on my website.

Hi S Springer,
We live in Cape Coral. It has been on list as being one of the safest cities in Florida. I have three daughters ages 7, 10, and 14. We love the schools here. The charter schools are very popular. I would be happy to help you look into the area and answer any questions you may have. Feel free to give me a call or e-mail. I would be happy to help. Here is a link to the local school system.

Have a great day,

Hi Sspringer,

My kids have been here since grammer school. We have had them in Cape Coral's OASIS school system which is a Charter School. Thats like a private school without tuition.

We moved into North Fort Myers and we have one now in North Fort Myers, HS and the other in North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts./
