What is the best method of public transportation to commute from downtown Caldwell to NYC?

Well - here's another option........ why take a bus that makes you get off in Newark, and switch to a train when you can take one (50 ish minutes) that goes directly to the Port Authority in Manhattan?

Check out Decamp bus #33...........it makes stops along Bloomfield Ave, .... it originates near the intersection of Bloomfield Ave & Passaic Ave in W. Caldwell.
In the AM, it stops in Caldwell at Roseland Ave & Bloomfield Ave...... but not in the PM.

Andrew is right. here is the NJT bus #29 schedule that will take you from Caldwell to Newark Penn Station. From there you can either take PATH train or NJT train to NYC
