What is the average cost per square foot to build in Prescott? I am trying to decide if it is wiser to build

Average cost to build depends on your upgrades. I have found that it seems to come out somewhere between $150 - 200/square foot. Depending on the lot and what it takes to get the structure out of the ground and the utilities available. LOOKING TO BUILD IN THE RANCH AND DO NOT WANT TO BE SETTLED WITH BECAUSE I'M FROM CALIFORNIA I CAN AFFORD IT, AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO PAY PREMIUM PRICES. I DO HAVE A FINITE AMOUNT OF FUNDS AND WAS A BLUECOLLAR WORKER I'M NOT WELL TO DO LIKE OTHERS BUT NEED A FAIR PRICE TO BUILD.

To build in Prescott is cheaper than ever since building contractors are bored and willing to seek lower contracts. But building from scratch still doesn’t come close to comparing to buying a resale. Here is a big secret-----there are 135 homes in the Prescott area built between 2007 and this year. They cost as low as $55 per square foot. Stay up to date with Prescott Area Market Statistics, including per square foot costs by logging onto http://www.myprescottplace.com and clicking on the Market Statistics tab. You can find all kinds of information about what is happening with both residential properties as well as vacant land. You will be glad you did. I keep in touch with several builders in the area. Definitely not less than $130 per foot...don't forget to add in the price of dirt if you are comparing apples to apples...

Definitely buy resale.....thought of looking in Sedona? For the first time in years Sedona's prices have reached "very affordable" with many, many opportunities and when the market comes back you should see a stronger profit. We have a great "fixer upper". Visit our website listed below and look at our listings - the one I am talking about is the Yavapino Estates home on 1 1/2 acres with a pool and views....just needs updating. Great opportunity for the right person...

Good question. I have builders that are buying resale homes right now. If it is wiser for contractors to buy resale homes, than it is probably wiser for you.

Sorry builders, a definitive yes, it is cheaper to buy a pre-existing home than to build. That is why you don't see many speculation homes on the market.

Hello Jack, Building cost depends so much on the price of the lot, utilities available to the lot, what it takes to get it permitted and the amenities or upgrades to the home. You can spend as little as $130 per square foot to $200+. In todays market, it is a great time to buy lots to build as well as resale homes. If you can find just what you want in a resale, there are some smokin deals and will save you the torment that building can be. If you choose to build, be sure you use a reputable builder.
