What does flood zone A,X mean in Florida?

Not sure if all states use the same codes, they might since it is all with FEMA. Here on the Atlantic coast A means it is in an area that would require flood insurance by the lender. X means it is high enough that the lender would not require you to have flood insurance. There are other letters but they also mean you have to have flood insurance, only X does not.

The simple answer is flood insurance is NOT required.
