Mountain Point High is the other Tempe Union High School in Ahwatukee and is outstanding, as well. At this time, due to a bit lower enrollment, it is possible to send students to either school on a limited basis.

I would be honored to help anyone interested in a move to my main market and where we live in Ahwatukee!

My kids did not like Desert Vista High School. It is a huge school and easy to get lost in with 3000 students. Kids that are more academic or sports minded do well in this competitive school, but it is not for everyone. Kyrene is very good in comparison with other school districts in the valley. They try to make everyone happy and my son had some good teachers there, but like everywhere, some were better than others. We used to live in New Jersey and the schools were much better there. Arizona is a bit behind and does not have as much money or as much parent participation like back east.

I'm an Ahwatukee Native and went through the Kyrene and Tempe Union School from K-12. My wife and I now have three kids attending Kyrene De Los Cerritos in the foothills of Ahwatukee. We've been very happy with both the staff and curriculum.

About a year behind Dallas schools. Our child just started 3rd grade in Ahwatukee's Kyrene district and the curriculum they are teaching was identical to my daughter's 2nd grade class back east.

Wow..we are moving from Lovejoy School District in Fairview, Tx over the summer (3rd/6th grader) and have been concerned about our kids being challenged in the new school district. Any suggestions? What has worked for your kids?

Not only are all the Kyrene Elementary/Middle Schools and Tempe Union High Schools outstanding, but did you know that Altadena Middle School is rated in the top among Middle Schools in the entire state?

Both of our sons attend school at one of the Kyrene Elementary Schools and we find their education to be outstanding, since both started in Kindergarden. Our oldest will attend Middle School next year, which is also part of the Kyrene School District. After that, the two High Schools are Mountain Point and Desert Vista. Both are among the best in AZ, and a lot of that is due to the intense rivalry between the two. The excellence here is in academics, athletics and extra curricular activities. The results are that the students graduate and move on to easily qualify to attend ASU, U of A, NAU and many also qualify for schools such as Stanford, Notre Dame, US Air Force Academy or MIT.

The schools in Ahwatukee are some of the best in the valley. Ahwatukee is also a wonderful place to live. It has more of a village feel to it than being in the big city. Being basically a cul-de-sac community means it's not a cut through to get somewhere else so the traffic is much better and the scenery is also really nice. The roads curve through the foothills and the mountain views are beautiful. There is also great access point to South Mountain trails if you like hiking. There is easy access to downtown and the airport as it is very centrally located. I personally think it's one of the best areas to live in the valley!

The Ahwatukee area school ratings are typically very high. The Kyrene District serves the elementary kids and Tempe has the High School side.

Arizona also has an active and vibrant Charter School systems as well that some prefer.

Great are to live, close to South Mountain Park and all it has to offer as well.

Some of the best schools and school district is located in Ahwatukee. That is a true factor why homes in this area are priced and sell in the higher price per sq ft category in the Valley of the Sun. You can gain a much better knowledge about a particular school by making an appointment to tour the school and speak to the administration/teachers before deciding on the right school for your children. Plus there is so much info on about schools in the valley at http://www.greatschools.org/.

I hope this helps and do not hesitate to call or email any other questions.
