What are the schools like in Southlake? Are there some areas with better middle and high schools than others?

Nothing in the state of Texas can compare with the prestige of Southlake Carroll. Both of my children graduated as average kids in their senior classes but in top tier colleges they are finding their course very easy.

Southlake really prepares their kids for success in every area of life.

In Southlake, it is Carroll ISD. And the school have high expectations. They are involved. Most of the schools have four schools, such as Elementary, Middle, Intermediate, High School. I like how that is broke apart. Also, there are two school campuses for one high school. One campus has 9th and 10th and the other campus has 11th and 12.

Hi Heather
I recommend that you visit greatschools.org. You will find reviews from parents and students currently enrolled in the schools that you are considering. I also encourage you to visit any school that your children will attend before you make a decision on the move. Every parent and child is different and meeting staff can make a hugh difference, ratings are only part of the story when it comes to your kids. Best of luck to you and if you have any further questions please feel free to contact me directly.

I've never heard anyone complain about this school or that school in Carroll ISD.
Most people consider Carroll ISD top notch and one of the best in the area.

There are actually two school districts that serve Southlake...Keller and Carroll. While Keller is a great school district too, I think most people who want to pay to live in Southlake also want Carroll schools for the most part.

Also there's not a big choice of schools, there is only one High School, two middle schools, and about 1/2 dozen elementary schools. I'd probably try to focus on looking for the right house, versus trying to find one in a specific elementary or middle school district. Plus these can change. Districts do rearrange things now and then.

If you do want in a particular school, you can search homes by school on my website. For example this link will show you homes in Southlake with Carroll ISD.

It helps to know what you are trying to compare to...better than which others? It is always my suggestion to check the ratings of school districts yourself because ones view of "better" can differ substantially from someone else's.

Southlake schools, Carroll ISD, are very cohesive. They all have the Dragon mascot, from start to finish. This is a bond which is a tight one.

The Carroll ISD is rated exemplary which in most interpretations is very good.

Thank you for your interest.

In Southlake most of the homes fall within the Carroll ISD. In Carroll all of the schools are rated 10 (Using last years rating system) from Elementary thru High School. There are a few areas that fall into Keller ISD.

School district is a large part of the home buying process not only if you have school aged children but for resale value down the road as well.
Southlake is represented by 4 school districts depending on the area you live.
Below is a list of the districts with thier websites for you review.
Along with these schools, there are also some very good private schools in the Southlake area.

Though the main scorecard by which the Texas Education Agency evaluates public schools changed this year, the exemplary reputation of the Southlake Carroll ISD remains unchanged. There is one high school (grades 9 and 10) and one senior high(grades 11 and 12) in Southlake Carroll. There are two middle schools and both are equally good. Note that some parts of Southlake are served by Northwest ISD (Byron Nelson High school), and some parts are served by Keller ISD (Keller High School). The best place to see the ratings for each of the districts and their campuses is at
http://www.tea.state.tx.us. The State has announced that it is not assigning ratings for the 2012-2013 school year, as it was the first year of the new assessment test called STARR.

All of the schools in Southlake are exemplary. There is only 1 high school (9th and 10th) and 1 senior high school (11th and 12th). The great thing about Southlake is that there are no bad schools.
