Neighborhood safety issue questions are best directed to the local police department or county sheriff's department. They have access to the most accurate and current information and are generally very willing to be helpful.

Good luck

Hi Cathy,

I know your question is older but if you haven't purchased a home yet. You can buy a lot more house now for that same $600,000. You can get into some of the nicer neighborhoods in San Mateo and even some entry level Burlingame homes.

If you are still interested in purchasing property in the San Mateo Area, give me a call.

Shoreview and San Mateo Village along with the Laurel school areas are good, but of course it is all relative in terms of what you see as good for your kids in San Mateo. In terms of schools Belmont and Foster City schools are all very good that might fit your price range. Also visit http://www.greatschools.net for more info on schools and I hope this helps.
