What are the property taxex in Vacaville? And what is a good subdivision to live in around Vacaville High

Asked by Tina, Saint Louis, MO Thu Jan 17, 2008

We are looking to relocate from St. Charles, MO (St. Louis) and are interested in the Vacaville area. We have 3 sons, ages 19, 16, & 13 and two of them play high level ice hockey. Are there any good Midget Major hockey teams in the area? Do the high schools have ice hockey? I think we are interested in the Vacaville High school disctrict. Thanks for your help!

Property taxes are all over the map in Vacaville, ca. depending on your purchase price. I think the best subdivisions are in Browns Valley. Of course I live in Browns Valley so what else am I going to say.

Great job answering that question Barbara. I would ad that West Vacaville is really the most desirable part of the city and what am hearing from my Realtors in this market is that Browns Valley would be the unanimous first choice to look for a new home. I wish you the best of luck Tina. It's a great time to buy in Northern Ca - "The Coach"

Here is the high school boundary map for Vacaville High. These lines are subject to change. Call the school district.

Your property taxes are 1% of the sales price you pay for the property, and there are assesments that differ on each property, even ones right next door to each other, the largest one in Vacaville is Mello Roos tax, for schools. It varies and would have to be checked for each lot, mainly in the Browns Valley area of Vacaville there are no Mello Roos taxes. Anyhow, your taxes average out to about 1.25% of the sales price you paid for the place, these are state property taxes, neighborhoods sometimes have parks assessements, there is a Solano Irrigation District fee imposed on many parcels even in the city too. We have an ice rink in Vacaville, Sacramento has an outdoor ice rink and several cities in the bay area and Sacramento have ice rinks. Vacaville high school is very sports oriented, many Vaca High players were chosen to play on college teams just this last week on "signing day". Sharks are the hockey team around here, I believe Santa Rosa may also have a team. Not much ice around California.

We lived for a couple of years in the Regency Park neighborhood of Vacaville. It is a safe, quiet, nice looking community with a really nice park that adjoins an elementary schools. We lived on Syracuse Drive, just off Christine Drive, in Vacaville. If you Google for those streets, the neighborhood should show up. I used to walk my daughter down to the park a lot, because they had a huge grassy field and kids jungle gym, lots of room to run around and fly a kite, play catch, etc.

The neighborhood is quiet during the day, but close enough to the hew, nice restaurants and shopping and movie locations that Vacaville has to offer. I'd definitely recommend it.

I agree with Denton on the Tax issue, the County assessor is your best source of info , but HOCKEY! Now you talking. I was born outside Boston and grew up with Hockey, since I have been out here (long time), I have had to resort to some "below par" action, but it gets better all the time. When the Sharks came to SJ, things started to change (not like you have in SL). Here is a site you should check out for youth hockey info locally http://www.jetsyouthhockey.com/ and http://www.norcalyouthhockey.com/ in the area. We have a EHL team in Stockton now too! The Thunder, great action (the locals love all the fights). Good luck, Hope that helps! "The Coach". BTW, I am a HS basketball coach in Ripon, do they play BBAll? I may have some info on schools that have good programs.
