What are the primary disadvantages to buying in North Glastonbury (north of Rt 94-near East Hartford) or?

East Glastonbury (east of Rt. 2) versus South Glastonbury? Do resales in South Glastonbury do better than other parts of town?

It really depends on the house. There are fantastic neighborhoods and areas in both parts of town...I was born and raised in Glastonbury. I lived in East growing up and now am closer to South Glastonbury. If you would like any further information about the town, please let me know. My email is bmiglietta@prudentialct.com

Glastonbury is a great town and there are very few areas which are considered on "the other side of the tracks". The realtors by law cannot tell you that you may want to avoid the area by housing project or won't tell you the house well water is low during the summer months, etc...

Rte 94 or Hebron Ave is a major road that runs the entire town. I would recommend that you look at all the home in Glastonbury. Glastonbury has some of the best neighborhoods in the state and it is very a desirable place to live and raise kids. Also, it is a very commuter friendly town due to its proximity to the highways and Hartford. This was one of the main reason why I chose to live in Glastonbury.

When it comes to resales the basic colonial house wins out over a contemporary. While that old home on Main street may look charming also consider that parts of Main St are also Rte 17 and is a busy noisy road. Also, how far out do you want to live? Rte 2 backs up quite a bit if you are a commuter.

The good homes in Glastonbury are snapped up. Also, make the realtors work for you . Consider working with an agent from each of the big realtors. They usually steer their clients to showings of new homes that are just listed before releasing to the other agencies. They will deny this but I have seen it done.

Glastonbury is a gorgeous town, no matter the area. Are you an old house enthusiast by any chance? There is a wonderful antique cape listing on our site that sits right on an orchard. (see link below) This property is one of my favorites!

There are no disadvantages. You will probably get public utilities, be convenient to highways and shopping and you would be located in the middle of the state. If you need a realtor let me know I work in Glastonbury.
