There are many great areas as per the advice already given. It really depends on what you want the neighborhood to look like, e.g., new construction or resale, larger lots, country "feel", near Tampa Bay, Master Planned Communities, etc.

I suggest you interview some Realtors and tell them what the specific criteria you are looking for and go from there.

Elissa, there are many areas that meet your criteria. Some of these include New Tampa, Wesley Chapel, Land O' Lakes, Lutz, Brandon and many more. The best thing to do is interview some Realtors and see who asks and answers questions for you best, and who you feel would be the best to work with. A great Realtor will help you choose the best area on more than the criteria given here.

A good real estate professional will be able to match you with "desirable options" but it will require a little more information.

When dealing with a person or families happiness it helps to have more specific criteria.

Do you have children?
Proximity to work?
Desirable square footage?
Golf, tennis, fitness center
Distance from beach?

Even if these are not issues for you presently, they very likely will be for the buyer of the future and therefore should be considerations today.

Hope this is helpful,
Good luck,

Hi Elissa,

I find the Feathersound area to be a real winner. It is a beautiful community with homes in your price range. It is located at the gateway where I-275 goes east to Tampa and south to St. Pete. You would be only minutes from the beaches and a hop skip and jump to Tampa Airport . Let me know if I can help you find a home in that neighborhood. Jo-Ann 727-692-0241

Elissa, will you be working in downtown Tampa? Depending on how far a drive is comfortable for you, you might be interested in Seffner or Plant City. Plant City is about a 20-30 minute drive to downtown. I used to drive that every day and didn't mind it at all - it gave me time to get mentally prepared in the morning and to unwind on the way home. There are a lot of good values in Plant City, both in subdivision-style homes as well as out in the country on acre lots or more. I'd be happy to give you more information if that is appealing at all to you.

In Tampa there are several, just to name a few, New Tampa, Westchase, South Tampa and Tampa Palms, as well as many others. These are actually in Tampa. You will really need to speak with a Realtor who you can relay what you are looking for in a community / area, more then what info you have given. Example, South Tampa is currently more geared for young adults/professionals and such, not to say there aren't families and New Tampa is geared more for family oriented type living, and again, not to say there are young adult/professionals. It all really depends on what you are looking for. You may not actually mean directly in Tampa, and you could choose towns outside of that gamma. I would obviously be interested in being that person. Thanks,

There are a lot of great locations for that price range. Apollo Beach, Lithia, Brandon, Riverview are all close to the Interstate and now is a super time to buy.
