It's almost always better to buy than pay someone rent (pay someone else's mortgage payments for them).

Hopefully, you've spent the past six years rebuilding your credit and saving for a down payment and can now qualify for a mortgage. Even though the BK will stay on your credit report for another one to three years, you may still be able to qualify.

Let me know how I can help.

Good question. That will depend on if you qualify for a loan. The process of buying a home has not changed in the past 6 years. But remember, you will need some sort of down payment in order to buy this time around. Where is Shafter, CA? Talk to a trusted loan officer first and find out if you qualify. And, if you do, then go for it and search for your next home and buy it. Also remember, inventory is down in most areas and the buying demand is high in many areas.

Good luck in your house hunt!
