Home Buying in Spicewood>Question Details

Dean Pillay, Home Buyer in South Africa

We are relocating to Austin in early 2009 and are interested in finding a 3/4 bedroom lease/purchase home.

Asked by Dean Pillay, South Africa Tue Dec 9, 2008

As we work from home an additional building or guest suite for offices would be a plus on a small-holding of 3-10 acres for organic farming in the spicewood/lake travis area. Any ideas?

Spicewood / Lake Travis area is very nice: Beautiful Hill Country and awesome lake while being cconvenient to Bee Cave, Lakeway, and Austin. What's are some of your other search criteria? Would you like a pool, a deeded boat slip, to be in a gated community? What's your budget for rent / purchase price? I live in, and am most familar with Spicewood. I am a Realtor and a new home developer. If the organic farming is for personal and not commercial purposes, I have an option for you:
My personal home that was originally fairly priced at $1,000,000 can be leased under a lease/option arrangement for $5,000/month. It is a 4 - 5 bedroom (1 bedroom is detached with a private entrance which I use as an office), it's on 2.08 acrs, and has a Pool & Spa, and lake Views & Access. If you want to buy, I am offering Auction-Like Pricing. The "BUY NOW Price" is $739,000, or I will take the best offer at/over $700,000 by 1/31 for a conventional sale. Alternatively, I have a never-lived-in spec home on 1.541 level acres with a pool & deeded boat slip on Lake Travis. I can't/won't lease or lease/purchase that home. However, I will hold a BIG second mortgage, i.e., $200,000. That home is priced at BEST OFFER at/over $659,000 by 2/4 or BUY NOW for $699,000. If neither of these work for you, I am most confident that I can help you find what you need/want.Thanks.

I do have some ideas, although have some further questions that will help me understand your needs in greater detail.

Are you looking for a lease or purchase? How much square footage do you need in the main house? and how much in guest quarters for your office? What price point are you looking to stay under? What sort of requirements do you have for your farming?
