There are lenders who do these loans but they typically require a much larger down payment. HSBC seems to be the go-to bank for these loans, but I have not been impressed with any of their reps so unfortunately I cannot recommend anyone.

Hi Dora,

I am also from Canada!
I understand your concern and yes it is possible to obtain a mortgage without a credit history in the US.

I am a realtor in San Francisco and I recommend Christelle since this is her specialty working with out of state clients looking to purchase property. Here is her contact information:

It's certainly possible and you'll be required to provide, letter of employment, income and asset documentation, requisite Visa, open a local bank account, obtain international credit report and maintain a reserve requirement ( often 12 months of PITI-principal, interest, taxes, insurance).
In addition down payment will be at least 30% if not greater-this will depend on the loan value.

If you need a lender referral please contact me.
