All neighborhoods in Columbia County have depreciated in value, which makes it an excellent time for you to buy. Also, just about every neighborhood has had bank foreclosures. (To see current bank owned properties, go to http://www.colonoliver.com
and click on the Foreclosure/REO tab towards the top of the home page.) In order to compare current listing price to what the property sold for the last time it sold, go to http://www.columbiacountyga.gov.
First click on Government, then on Departments S-Z, next on Tax Assessor and finally, click on Maps Online. When you get to Maps Online, click on Parcel Search. Here you can put the property address or parcel ID to pull the property card for the house you are looking for. Show All Sales is one of the items you can further click on in the property card. As far as neighborhoods with mature trees, some of the older neighborhoods like Springslake, Idylwilde and Woodbridge have mature trees and larger lots. As far as new neighborhoods, Canterbury Farms has a lot of trees (not in the backyars necessarily) throughout the subdivision and great walking trails. I could assist you better if I knew your price range.
